The OutIsland series is one of Charlie Morgan greatest designs for the charter trade in the Caribbean and Bahamas. The joke was OutIsland's models can't get out of their own way, but the chartering public loved them for the comfort and interior space. Also, in reality they could hold their own among cruising boats and, in rough sea, they are very sea kindly. The few that were sloop rigged had much better up wind performance and were sold to private owners rather than for fleet charter boats.
This example is like seeing a restored example in a maritime museum. This is not the later Catalina "Classic" version, but the real thing. Upgrades include all new Allgrip exterior paint, with new non-skid, new interior cabin sole, propane replaces the original alcohol stove/oven. New SS radar arch with stern seats, solar, upgraded Cummins diesel, electronics, and the list is endless. Boat currently is resting in Demopolis AL for Hurricane season but is only a two day sail down the river to the Gulf.
