Ericson 31-INDEPENDENCE - main image

1979 Ericson 31 Independence

location icon Mobile, Alabama
Year 1979
Length 31 ft
Price
$19,900

The opening photos shows what a classic boat this was.  Was, becasue, unfortunate she has been neglected since this photo was taken.  This boat needs taken over by another loving family.

She has a good complement of sails in good condition, over-sized winches for easy of handling and can be sailed as a sloop or cutter. Built for heavier winds and cruising, configured as she is she can be a good club racer.  It's Yanmar diesel has been recently serviced.

You need to see this one to appreciate its potential.  The "Independence" class of Ericson were specials boats all around, and those classic old school lines give it a eye appeal apart from the standard plastic boats of the era.

Accommodations
  •   With the abundance of oiled teak, a soft leatherette headliner, bronze
opening ports, and teak and holly cabin sole, the interior of the
Independence 31 is a true work of the craftsman’s art.

  • Forward cabin has full size double berth with hanging locker, shelf
w/fiddle rail, cabinets, deck hatch, and bronze opening port.

  •  Head is to starboard with Jabsco manual head & holding tank, stainless
steel sink with hot and cold running water system, counter space
w/fiddle rail, cabinet, storage shelves, and bronze opening port.

  •  The salon starboard settee slides out to form a comfortable double berth
with storage underneath, behind and outboard. The port settee has a
foot well into the hanging locker to convert it to a single berth with
storage underneath, behind and outboard. The drop leaf, teak dining
table seats four. For ventilation there is a screened deck hatch, four
bronze opening ports w/screens, and solid teak companionway drop
boards. Two oil lamps supplement the 12 volt lighting. The port and
starboard overhead, teak handholds and cruising interior make
movement below decks safe and secure in a seaway.

  •  The L-shaped galley to port has storage galore – three galley-top drawers;
a large staples locker with sliding-panel front; a molded teak dish
rack; a 20” deep stainless steel sink with hot and cold water and a
fresh water foot pump, a 5 cu. ft. insulated ice box with movable shelf,
a main storage cabinet; Old alcohol stove removed.

  •  The navigation station is to starboard at the end of the settee. A very large
navigation storage locker is outboard to starboard.
