Price reduction, Original owner says it time Waxwing passes to a younger generation.  Great value on the one-owner classic yacht.

This classic Lyle Hess cutter, hull #22. was built in 1977 by the Sam L.Morse yard in Costa Mesa, California. The original owners bought the bare hull with deck and the two major bulkheads installed, and finished the rest themselves, having additionally bought the black anodized mast and rudder from Sam. Waxwing is the only BCC known that has a forward cabin with queen sized bunk, including a head, and three personal lockers . She is a true live aboard, proven by the owners 38 years spent sailing the East and West coasts, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.

The interior woodwork is mahogany as are the three hatches. With the exception of the boomkin the exterior covering board, whale strakes and bulwarks are teak replaced in 1999. The interior, including all lockers were just repainted in February 2021 . Unfortunately due to ill health the owners have not been able to keep up with the exterior woodwork the last few years and it need of some sanding and painting.

The rigging and mast are in excellent shape. Re-rigged with all new shrouds and stays in 1999 when the roller furling on the jib was added. The original specs for the rig called for most 1/4 inch shrouds and stays, Waxwing went bigger to 9/32 with StaLoc end fitting top and bottom  The power is provided by a hand cranked Sabb 10 h.p. diesel, an electric starter was added in 2020.

If blue water sailing is your dream this historic BCC is like the Bentley of classical sailboats.
