reduction! Owner needs to sell to a good home for this unique, and
Emma's Rose is a beautiful Ted Hood designed sloop that is a joy to
look at and even more of a joy to sail! Her long overhangs,
beautifully faired lines, and powerful rig make her a strong performer
in any sea-state. Once a serious off-shore racer, she is now retired
to cruising, and is a veteran of the Sea of Cortez, Northwest U.S.,
and more recently the Gulf Coast. She will turn heads where ever you
choose to take her!
Constructed of double planked African mahogany, diagonally laid inner
planking over oak frames, and bronze screw fasteners, she is as strong
and watertight today as she was coming out of the Tor Trading Company
yard in 1961. She's been upgraded with a 35 HP Yanmar diesel, Hurst
transmision and a 100 amp alternator. The aluminum mast contains all
the halyards and electrical wiring internally, and the varnished 16
foot Sitka Spruce boom is fitted with bronze goose-neck, reefing and
outhaul fittings. Her manganese bronze centerboard is raised and
lowered by a hand crank in the cockpit, with her draft of 4 foot 6
inches up, and 9 foot 6 inches with centerboard fully down.
Down below she has a two burner propane stove with oven, stainless
steel sink, oversized custom double size ice box, and ample storage
for long transits. The main salon has two pullout settee bunks with
lee-boards, two pilot berths, a large table and a High Seas diesel
fired cabin heater. The head has an antique ceramic toilet and bronze
fittings, SS sink and large linen closet with plenty of storage. The
v-berth has twin over-sized berths with outboard storage shelves and
ample storage below. The anchor locker is all the way forward with
plenty of room for hundreds of feet of chain and rode.
Come see, and sail, this extraordinary piece of sailing history!
